What is dating someone

Recently I realized I don’t even know how to talk about potential fellas to my ! Things are going well, but it’s still new, still casual. Turns out a lot of people agree with my take on these two words! Put it together and POOF the word “dating” elevates to a greater level of seriousness. I might feel a little old-fashioned in my DATING vs SEEING beliefs. As if labels with a romantic interest aren’t difficult enough already! As a 30-year-old blogger who’s watched too many episodes of Sex and the City….Go with the flow and interact with person get to know them, see if the person is loyal or playing around then on the outcome take action.

It’s reached the point where I’ll mention him to my friends, the dude’s got potential. Like the difference between the B and D train: one easily gets you to the American Museum of Natural History, the other zooms you up to 125th leaving you wondering what the hell you did wrong and OMG am I in Harlem!? Annnnnd….a lot of other people think the exact opposite… “Seeing” can be applied to your friend with benefits, your ex, and tonight’s Bumble date. Maybe I need to change my wording when I write about dating, since I frequently do…

I can’t count the number of times I heard “You’re wasting your time” or “You’ll never meet anyone else.” But buoyed by the confidence and happiness that comes from a healthy relationship, I was more able to recognize and accept the right guy when he came along.

And my experiences on the periphery of non-monogamy taught me a lot about relationships, lessons I’m applying in my new, monogamous relationship.1.

It must be, or there wouldn’t be so much infidelity.

Acknowledging this inevitability means my boyfriend and I can deal with it from within our relationship instead of pretending we’ll only ever have eyes (and maybe hands and lips and everything else) for each other.2.
